Who Are We?

Picture
Our Mission
The mission of the Twinfield Together Mentoring Program is to create and support
meaningful mentoring relationships and connections so that youth in our community are engaged and thriving.

Twinfield Together’s goal is to offer participants increased access to healthy activities,
a broader worldview, and
varied experiences with positive adults. Participating youth  will feel like they matter to people in their community.

Twinfield Together supports four programs under the
Twinfield Together Mentoring Umbrella
Community-Based Mentoring: Children in fourth through ninth grade are matched with an adult role model, to engage in healthy activities they both enjoy. Matches meet in the community at least twice a month, in the after school hours.

School Based Mentoring: Adult volunteers are paired with students in kindergarten through fifth grade.  Pairs meet weekly to share books, play games and develop lasting relationships through shared interests.  The commitment follows the school year schedule.

Peer Mentoring: Matches high school mentors with mentees in kindergarten through 5th grade for a one-on-one friendship.  Matches meet during the school day each week doing things they both enjoy.

Clubs and Commitments: Community Commitments and Clubs allow 6th, 7th & 8th graders an opportunity to do a weekly service project, and also connect with peers and adults doing what they love, while also trying new things with mentor facilitators.

Our Team

Pam Quinn as been the program director for Twinfield Together since July of 2013.  The mentoring world has been a great place for Pam as she is able to use her skills as a teacher, facilitator, and children's advocate to bring people together in the very community she lives in.  Pam loves to cook and spend as much time as she can outside hiking and biking  with her family.

Fiona Zahm, a past AmeriCorps member at Twinfield, is currently working in a new role as Service Learning Coordinator.  She supports independent service projects, the Peer Leadership program, and school-wide service initiatives in this role. She's thrilled to be in Vermont for another year, and has loved getting to know Twinfield students, parents, and community members.

Why Mentoring Matters

  • Kids stay in school: Kids with mentors are less likely to skip school, and more apt to like it, increasing the possibility of continued studies through and after high school.
  • More Respectful Relationships: Kids with mentors have a higher level of trust with their parents and a better sense of emotional support from their friends than kids without mentors
  • Less Drug and Alcohol use: Kids with mentors are 46% less likely to use drugs and 27% less likely to use alcohol
