Fiona's Experience
2020-2021
I am so thankful and so lucky to be a part of the Twinfield community as an AmeriCorps member! You would be hard pressed to find a more welcoming and innovative staff. AmeriCorps Members are incredibly valued and appreciated at Twinfield, and I consequently had the opportunity to create deep relationships with staff and students alike, pursue my interests, create new programming, and develop as both a young professional and an individual.
Every day brought something new, and I really enjoyed the flexibility and creativity of both the After School and Mentoring program. While not every initiative succeeded, I experienced continual support and was given the opportunity to take ownership over programming, develop personal relationships, and truly shape my own experience. Anyone who is lucky enough to work at Twinfield will quickly realize what a special place and community Twinfield is. I, and others, were extremely unsure of what this year would look like due to COVID-19. However, in a time of increased isolation and disconnect for everyone, I was continually impressed by and appreciative of Twinfield’s longstanding commitment to caring for and investing in all members of our community. During a time of stress and uncertainty, staff was caring, invested, and innovative. I can all but guarantee that you will grow as an individual, grow as a professional, and grow in community during your time as an AmeriCorps member at Twinfield. |

Sam's Experience
2019-2020
During my time as an Americorps member serving at Twinfield Together Mentoring I experienced a wide variety of opportunities to help better myself and more importantly the area that I was working in. I built relationships through mentoring and the after school program, gained real life experiences, and was able to help better the program by offering my time and passions.
While I gained valuable experience, the relationships built with both youth and those who work for Twinfield were truly the most rewarding aspect of my service. I had the chance to be a support system for many students while giving the opportunity to play, confide, and grow. Many days we played games, went outside, did crafts or seasonal activities. All of these activities were fun but more importantly helped build a relationship between myself and my mentees. Aside from the relationship building that took place during my tenure, I benefited both personally and professionally. |

This school year was the first year Twinfield has had an After school program available for Middle School and High School students. Along with my responsibilities that came with serving with the Twinfield together Mentoring Program, I also was able to work closely with the After School Coordinator Matthew Hartman on coming up with fun and engaging activities for youth to participate in the after school program.
These after school activities included:
Blacksmithing Club, Cooking Club, Board Game Club, Sports based activities, craft projects, and so much more! It was such an unbelievable experience and I could not recommend my position enough. It was truly one of the most impactful and meaningful years of my life.

This past year with Twinfield Together Mentoring Program has been a really wonderful experience. As a second year AmeriCorps member, it was my goal to find a position where I’d be able to make connections and get involved with the community, and this year of service did not disappoint. Not only do I feel as though I was able to connect with a vast variety of students, but I also felt extremely supported and welcomed by Twinfield’s staff and Twinfield Together’s mentor volunteers. This role is unique because I was able to channel my own interests and hobbies and translate those things into my service. Alayna's Experience
2016-2017
My year with Twinfield has been incredible. I was able to learn a lot about how public schools and grant funded programs work, as well as feel like I was making a difference in this small community. It was really important for me to focus on creating and maintaining relationships and healthy boundaries with the students at Twinfield. By just being myself and bringing my own experiences and skills to Twinfield I was able to broaden the worldview for some students. Listening and staying curious were essential to making the most of my time as Twinfields AmeriCorps member. There is so much opportunity and support within this position, and the uniqueness of the AmeriCorps experience really encourages growth and professional development. |
